One corporate executive officer was once describing about one of horrific experience of seeing one of his friends getting into a trap of 419 Scam. The story was as follows:
I was sitting on my office at the late office hours and a phone call rang and receiving that found my friend Jack Rudy was so happy and asking me to meet him as soon as possible. I just completed all my office works and found him in a coffee shop, he was so excited because he got a letter from Nigeria that he has own a 50 million US dollars in a foreign lottery and need to collect as soon as possible. They said him that they have been trying to contract him for about two weeks but could not get him on line and finally got some information from US government officials and finally got connection with him.
They said only five days left in his hand to receive that huge amount because that is the actual deadline. So there is no chance to get that if these days pass through. He told me to lend him a $5000 for an only two weeks and after receiving that amount he promised to pay me double. I did not understand what was going on at that time and I lent him that amount as he asked for. But the main problem was he did not tell me that he had to pay that amount as security money to get that amount that will process all the legal requirements. He made that payment just within a day and got a confirmation letter that he was really getting that $50000 just in 10 days. He showed me that letter and exclaimed with joy that he is so lucky person that god gave him that amount. He made a promise to pay a $10000 into a charity. That was really a noble attitude.
But what happened next, yes he got that amount in dream only as that a 419 Scam letter and he lost that $5000 just in a no benefit situation. After sending money there he became more interested to justify what was right about that letter what he should have done earlier. But in the meantime something happened that was not expected. He made a lot of plan about what to do with that amount and as he promised to pay me double, he was not coming in front of me and also was not informing about what happened next. Two months passed away but I could not get connection with him and finally from another of my friend I was informed that it was just a 419 scam letter and Jack Rudy lost that entire amount and my that friend told me that Rudy said he will make my payment in a month. I got that amount back from him but this was really a different experience in my life.
Now if one ask you about what was wrong about Jack Rudy dealing with that 419 scam letter?
The answer is obviously not justifying the source of that letter and not informing FBI by taking some thing susceptive.
